Dear friends!

In the year of 10th Independence of Kazakhstan, I cordially welcome on our motherland all friends of the International Festival "Azia Dauysy"!

Thanks to this joyful event, every year increasing number of people all over the globe learn about Kazakhstan, about Almaty, about our hospitable people, our ancient culture.

At the same time, music of Your land sounds in one of the most picturesque spots of Kazakhstan, opening to us Your culture. Fusing into one thing, all of these melodies unite us all, Earth inhabitants. Each of Your songs - is a gulp of vivifying power making people better, beautiful, and sublime. Through Your creativity You do not only get over obstacles and distances, but also connect people and epochs. Probably for all of that, festival "Azia Dauysy" is valuable for us.

I hope Almaty will again become a place for friends to meet, and owing to the special atmosphere of our land, new melodies and brave experiments in music will come into being…

I am again going through these minutes - minutes of first encounter with participants of regular, already the 12^th festival "Azia Dauysy". During long months of preparation for the competition, we, it seems to me, became to know each of You well. We have several times listened to Your songs, peered at Your faces on photos. However, this moment is always special: first encounter! We look at each other and it leaves an impression of knowing inside and out.

What do I read in this look? First of all - anticipation of a joyful event. The one in which everybody discovers new music, in which everybody can present all with his or her favorite melodies. In this glance - there is hope that all of us gathered here will find new friends. That these friends will stay in our lives for a long time. There is one more thing I am reading in Your beautiful inspired eyes. It is excitement. In fact, no matter how frankly one says, victory is not the main thing, nevertheless, he or she hopes to win.

At this point, believe a man who is holding "Azia Dauysy" for 12^th time: eventually a farewell moment will come. In addition, it turns out that the saddest thing is a moment parting with the joyful event. Despite the destiny, which distributes the prizes - anyway, You are all winners. Because the stage and applause of the public are always a triumph…

Therefore, looking at Your faces, into Your eyes, I want to wish: let all these days for You be filled up with the happiness of communication, joy of discoveries and flight of inspiration! Do not only follow surprising atmosphere of the festival, but create it together.

On behalf of the International Federation of Festival Organizations - F.I.D.O.F.- and its members - professionals and amateurs from 72 countries around the world, we are extending you our congratulations for the endurance in organizing for eleven consecutive years, the by now known ,ASIA DAUYSY or VOICE OF ASIA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL.

Your Festival has become a gathering place where talents from all corners of the world meet creating an atmosphere of mutual better understanding what is the condition to preserve the diverse cultural heritage and at the same time to teach tolerance.

Trough your above activities you have at the same time contributed to
the Aim of F.I.D.O.F. which is THE STRENGHTENING OF PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP
THROUGH MUSIC AND ARTS. This aim was accepted at F.I.D.O.F.'s Foundation
Assembly 34 years ago in Cannes, France.

The VOICE OF ASIA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL was proclaimed to have
been THE FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR 1997 and the Kazakhstan Media won the
F.I.D.O.F. GOLDEN RING OF FRIENDSHIP TRANSITIONAL AWARD 1997 for the
achievements in supporting the festival movement.

The UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY proclaimed the year 2000 to be
The YEAR OF CULTURE FOR PEACE while F.I.D.O.F. for its activities in this direction
Was nominated messenger for that idea. With F.I.D.O.F. THE VOICE OF ASIA
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL makes a part of the global contribution to the UNITED
NATIONS IDEAS as well.
