She was born in small village in family of teacher and dressmaker, the eldest child of ten children. Village's women gathered together often and improvized songs and dance began by style of Afro-cuban melodies, blues ans soul. Afia contained herself these ancient traditions, and at the age 14 years she became the nominator of Togolese Song Festival. Then there was the second prize of the «Golden Star of Togolese Song» competition, the release of 6 albums, the first prize of the International forum of Song in Benin, the nomination of the RFI «Discovery», the nomination of the Best Female African Artist of 1992, the finalist of the contest of 1997 in the same category. The singer is considered as a Queen of Togolese music.
